About the Institution: Plan International has been working in Egypt for more than 30 years, serving more than 1,500,000 children and their families in 7 governorates. It focuses on child rights, implementing programs designed to enable communities to improve the lives of the most marginalized children by working with women, youth and civil society organizations. Plan International Egypt has deep grassroots local knowledge and relationships with communities and works to build the capacities of communities and organizations to promote child rights. As an international, child-centerd community development organization, Plan International is fully committed to promoting the realization of children's rights, including their right to protection from violence and abuse. That means we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with.
Life Skills-Related: The programme title is “Aflatoun”. The main goal of the programme: Strengthening national plans and strategies related to life skills, and Enhancing human resources and capacity development. Thematic areas under which life skills are addressed include: Environment, Disaster Risk Reduction, mine risks, other risks, etc, and Conflict resolution, civics, etc. The main topics through which life skills education takes place in the programme are: Conservation of natural resources, Participation/rights of children and young people, Livelihoods (generic skills) and financial literacy, and Civic engagement.
